The Team

Alphabetically, our key team members are:

James Brockwell BSc MCIWEM CEM

Principal Consultant & Director

From university, James joined the environmental services department of Royal Ordnance, then part of British Aerospace, which in time became BAE Systems Environmental & Property Services.  His early career encompassed all forms of site investigation techniques on large complex munitions sites.  With time he was increasingly involved in remediation and demolition works including several projects in Israel.

Dan Brown
Geo-Environmental Technician

Dan joined BRD as an experienced laboratory and field technician having worked for over seven years with national laboratory company.  After a brief spell of having been poached back by the, Dan is back at home with BRD.  Dan is responsible for managing our stores of equipment and samples, undertaking a variety of monitoring tasks and assisting other team members with both site and office tasks.  Trained in 2014 in the control of invasive knotweed and has qualified as a herbicide sprayer to assist other team members during the busy knotweed growing season.

Ben Chipping MEng (Hons)
Geo-Environmental Technician

Joining after completing his Masters, Ben is currently working as part of the technician team to assist with the monitoring and maintenance of sites, along with other responsibilities associated with the role. Ben is working towards becoming a consultant and is developing the required skills for this role.

Rob Davies
Geo-Environmental Consultant

After graduation Rob became a technician with BRD developing into a geo-environmental consultant working on a variety of investigation and remediation projects. Rob had a change of career for a few years but is back with BRD and enjoying his old role.

Brian Devonshire BEng (Hons)  MSc
Principal Consultant & Managing Director

After a brief spell at Travers Morgan (now Capita Symonds) undertaking environmental desk studies in 1994, Brian moved onto Parkman (now Mouchel) to develop his site investigation and remediation skills.  This included dealing with a variety of sites in the then Black Country Development Corporation area and gas works sites nationwide notably including the first commercial application of soils washing in the UK.  After completing his part time masters degree, Brian moved to Royal Ordnance where he met James whilst working on a variety of remediation projects.

In 2000 Brian established BRD Environmental Ltd and successfully completed the first of many investigation and remediation contracts.  In 2009/2010 Brian took a partial break from BRD to work within a Groundwater and Contaminated Land Team at the Environment Agency.

Ian Hibberd BSc (Hons)
Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant

Initially working as a technician, Ian joined BRD in 2005 and has progressed through the company to become a senior consultant.  He has a wealth of experience from numerous site investigations and remediation projects.  With a background in landscape gardening, it was natural for him to become the lead expert in the control of invasive knotweed and retains the ‘hands on’ approach being one of our qualified herbicide sprayers.

Ana Leon EurGeol
Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant

After gaining 5 years experience working as a senior geotechnical consultant in Spain, Ana joined BRD to gain experience of UK industry practices and geology.  Ana is already taking the lead with ground investigations, and undertakes geotechnical interpretation of sites for foundation design, soakage potential and other geotechnical issues.

Matt Morgan BSc (Hons)
Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant

Matt has been a long serving member of the BRD team, initially as performing the technician role during holiday breaks from his time at university.  From graduation, Matt took on increased responsibility for undertaking ground investigations and has concentrated on site specific human health and groundwater risk assessments.

Nicola Kimber BSc (Hons) MSc
Geo-Environmental Consultant

Joining after completion of her Masters degree, Nicola successfully completed a year as a Technician and was then promoted to Consultant level as she continues to gain experience in site investigations.

Andrea Stratford
Administrator

No organisation would be complete without somebody to take care of the ordering, payroll, answering the phone, invoicing, petty cash, and the hundreds of other tasks that are needed for the smooth running of a company.  Andrea took up this challenge 2010 and continues to bring fresh ideas to the running of the company.

Sam Walker
Ge0-Environmental Technician

Sam joined BRD after university taking the normal graduate path of working initially as a Technician with teh aim of become a Consultant once sufficient experience is gained.

And other team members

BRD also have a team of regular and trusted contract working consultants and partnerships with other similar companies so that further expertise is always available.  So no matter how big the project, BRD have the resources to deliver.
