Office Administrator (Currently interviewing, not accepting new applicants at the moment, 23/03/26)

 We are looking for a flexible, versatile and positive individual to help us with office administration and book keeping for our supportive and close-knit small team environment. Our current Administrator is reducing her hours and will be retiring in 2027. This provides an opportunity for a new team member to work alongside her to learn about the company, work together to modernise systems and eventually take over the role with an increase in hours.

Our current Administrator has been with the company for many years as she has loved the variety of tasks it involves and fast changing programme of the team’s professional services for the construction industry. This part time role is Monday to Friday, but with current 20 hours, increasing to 30 hours next year, flexible between 8am and 5pm.

 

Responsibilities

· Managing supplier contracts and placing orders.

· Contribute towards the company’s management procedures.

· Arrange annual servicing/inspections of company equipment, premises and vehicles.

· Make travel arrangements for team member including booking accommodation.

· General book keeping and preparing financial reports as required using accounts and payroll software.

· Manage PAYE, VAT and corporation tax submissions. Liaise with the company’s accountant.

· General administrative duties such as filing and scanning.

· Answer incoming phone calls and direct enquiries appropriately.

· Pursue prompt payments from Clients.

· Arrange Team social events.


Experience

Previous administrative experience is necessary. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Book keeping experience preferred but not essential as training, such as AAT (The Association of Accounting Technicians) book keeping courses, will be provided for suitable candidates.

Candidate experienced in ground investigation

Looking for someone with two to five years’ experience of undertaking ground investigations with a relevant degree.  Will consider those with either geotechnical and/or contamination assessment dominated experience/interest.

Geotechnical engineer who also wants mix of office and site work

Looking for someone with a civil engineering degree with interest in geotechnical engineering, but likes a mix of office and site work.  Could be new graduate or someone with several years of experience.  Particularly interested in candidates with earthworks experience.

Geology, geotechnical engineering or environmental science related graduates

BRD have just recruited a geology graduate so do not currently have a specific vacancy, but will always consider anyone with a connection to the area local to our office approaching BRD direct.

Work Experience

BRD have a long history of providing adult students with the opportunity to gain some experience over the summer months. Only candidates approaching BRD direct are considered for such placements.
